My Update on Life: From Charlotte to Wilmingon

Posted by Stephanie Fillyaw on June 30, 2010 at 9:42 PM Comments comments (0)

Hey ya'll! (Excuse my Southern dialect)

I am currently writing from a town that is very special to me, Wilmington, NC. After a fun filled weekend in Charlotte, NC catching up with old friends and enjoying some rest and relaxation, I then decided to continue with my plans to visit my family and friends in Wilmington the following week. So here I am :)

Today was spent visiting a Korean restaurant in the city. The food was great and i will certainly be going back the next time I come home. I also went to Greenfield Lake, which I hadn't visited since I was a young child. This was a great homecoming indeed.

Now let me back up some and tell you about the great time we had at Rice Chapel last Sunday! As some of you may know, I come from a very musical background in the church, with that said, I enjoy "remixing" some of the old songs of the church. This affords a musically entertaining earfull. Incorporating Soul elements and more contemporary sounds adds a sense of adventure to the music that I can't explain.

"Jazzing things up": Try it some time, not only in music, but in life. Spontanity and adventure keep us young.

Until next time,

Fun at Utopia's Open Mic

Posted by Stephanie Fillyaw on June 11, 2010 at 6:18 PM Comments comments (0)

Greetings Ladies and Gents!

I pray that you all had a splendid week! My week was filled with the typical demands of life. I am currently sitting in Subway and listening to the Macarena play in the background. What a nice ambiance it creates haha.

Enough with my rambling, let me tell you briefly about the great fun Another Dimension had last night at Utopia's open mic, hosted by an amazing world singer called The Dubber (this guy is the truth! Look him up and fan him on Facebook).  Utopia has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere that the band had no problem getting into our element. We enjoy positivity and expression and this is what we aimed to promote last night.  We did about 3 songs including Bob Marley's "Waiting in Vain", "Keep Your Head to the Sky" and En Vouge's "Don't Let Go". All in all, we had a supurb time and I certainly look forward to catching up with Tim, Nicole and Jamal again soon...we're ready to take it to Another Dimension.

Have a great week!

Hello Person Who Decided To Click the "Blog" link! Thank you for visiting my site. This page will serve as an official window into my world. The site in general is a new venture for me and is my first attempt at adding a new skill under my belt, so please be patient with me. If you enjoy what I do, please continue to visit here to keep up with what I'm up to.

Now, let me warn you, if you're looking for my more personal blog (which may very well include my random ramblings including opinions about your mother, my lunch yesterday and the irrelevance of the color periwinkle), you can simply visit http://fillyaw.spaces.live.com and request permission to view it there. Many of you reading this are personal friends of mine and probably have MSN access anyway. Nonetheless, if you really want to get into my head, that's the first place to start!

In short, this blog will be dedicated to current events around the world, commentary and my personal happenings. If those things interest you in the slightest way, revisit this page in the coming weeks, because I'm sure I'll have something to say about...something!

Take care,

Step
